You are never given the dog you want, but the dog you need.

The Mini Series- Oh, This Life of Mine…

Back to Basics

Well now… It certainly has been quite some time, hasn’t it? I won’t give you the same old excuses that everyone always gives when they fall off the bandwagon- the simple truth is, I just didn’t have any inspiration to write and didn’t know what to write. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing about animals and learning more about them and sharing it with you all, but I lost my drive for a bit. It started to feel like a chore, and that wasn’t what I wanted this blog to feel like. So, I took a break. It’s been a good break, but I think I may have gotten my inspiration back finally. Or so I hope. Don’t worry, I’ll never truly give up on this- I’ve said it before and I still mean it just as much now as I did before.

But, it’s time to get back into the swing of things and time to start getting my voice back.

So, what have I all missed? A small number of you might wonder what’s been going on in my busy little world while I was away. I’ll catch you up, I promise 🙂 It really hasn’t been too exciting, but it may take a day or two to get up to speed. Bear with me as I get started again!

So, during my break, I was nominated for the Liebester award by the wonderful Chris Shaugness over at Capers for Canines and was given a list of questions to answer, so here goes.

1. What is your favorite food?

That’s a tough one to say for sure- I love Indian and Thai food, but I would have to say my true loves fall for Italian and French. I think this is more a “What is your favorite cuisine?” type response, but I don’t really have a favorite meal in particular that I would eat for days on end, so I go with cuisine.

2. Where were you born?

I was born in Bremerton, WA and raised in the outskirts of the nearby Poulsbo area. It’s a sleepy little area in Washington that suffers from the response of “Oh I’m from <insert hometown name>. It’s near… you know what, forget it. I’m from near Seattle.”
3. What is your most inspirational quote?

4. Who is your favorite writer?

Now this is truly a hard one for me. I love the written word and always have, so asking me to pick a favorite writer is like asking me to pick my favorite breath of air. I tend to be a little old fashioned, but there are some new ones in there that I love. For oldies: Chaucer, Christie, Doyle, Boccaccio, and Dostoevsky. For some newer ones: Rothfuss, Erikson, Lynch,  and Sullivan.

5. Who is the person you would like to be most like?

Honestly, I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure out who I really am, just like everyone else. I want to be someone who is caring and understanding, but still passionate enough to stand up for their beliefs, with a healthy dose of imagination and creativity 🙂

6. When did you start blogging?

I start this blog back during my senior year of college at WSU with the intent to share my passion for the furry ones that make up our families and to share life’s entertaining moments with those around me.

7. What place would you most like to visit?

I would love to do a return trip to France one day, but I think most of all I want to travel Italy. In France, I skirted around the border but only got to dip into one little town and I would love to go back and really explore.

8. Who is your favorite cartoon character?

I honestly don’t know this one. I suppose that Roo from Winnie the Pooh would be up there since Roo is one of my mother’s nicknames for me, but other than that I don’t know… Maybe Pinky from Pinky and the Brain?

9. What is the name of your first pet?

Disney was the first dog that was truly mine through and through, but there were many furry loves before him. He was the only one who I can say that I’ve had a complete bond with as of yet, and I miss him dearly for it.
10. If you celebrate Christmas, when do you put your tree up?

I’m a huge slacker, so our tree is lucky if it goes up earlier than a week before Christmas. Two weeks if I’m feeling really ambitious.
11. Do you feel inspired when you write your blog?

To be truthful, I lost that spark for a while, but hopefully we’ve got it back!

Thank you again for the nomination, Chris! If you have a moment, head over to Capers for Canines and give them a look see!
